making an effort on the pma but i would rather have stayed in bed and hid under the doona (duvet, quilt, comforter - call it what you will). i must, must, must have an early night tonight or i fear i will be asleep at my desk by about 10.30am tomorrow.
p.s. happy halloween... i've had this pic floating around my hard drive for years. if you own it or know who does, let me know and they will get full credit. it is too cute not to post. finding this has cheered me up immensely.
otto says " Thanks to all who played last week; I'm aware that the comments weren't working for a good portion of the day, but hopefully we'll have better luck this week. Now on to this week's questions! ".
1. Name 1 comedy movie you've seen. crackerjack - great aussie film
2. Name 2 black and white films you remember seeing. top hat & a patch of blue
3. Name 3 dramas you thought were worth watching. cracker, the lakes & big, bad world - british drama rules!!
4. Name 4 television shows you watch on a regular (or semi-regular) basis. who wants to be a millionaire?, rage, big brother and i am ashamed to admit this one - neighbours (it is only a recent aberration...)
5. Name 5 things that, in your opinion, are advertised on television too frequently. celebrity, rubbish, junk, crap and stupidity

things since thursday
a bit of a blah happening... i'm blaming it on hormones but there may be more to it - my mind is still processing the internal stuff that is going on.
today i am just plain sad and a little bit teary. my mother's neighbour's 22 year son killed himself last night. i don't pretend to have known him well, but he and his mum spent a few christmas breakfasts with us. i do know that he was very kind to my parents; mowing their lawn and looking out for their house whenever they went on holidays. he appeared to have everything going for him but he obviously found some reason not to continue. i grieve for his mother and for a young life cut short. if you have some love to spare, please send it on to his family.
(i ummed and ahed about posting this but i became brave thanks to a recent catboy post about feeling things and knowing it is perfectly ok to feel them. that is something i have always struggled with. even after so many years of working on allowing myself to feel, i still hold back.)
apart from that, life does go on... i have:
a 0 thursday, an 11 friday & a 13 saturday, which is 80% of the RTDDHA. a bazillion bon(e)us points for hearing zac the dalmation having a bark while talking to mr kim on thursday night.

i found this somewhere a while ago. good advice for all...
One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 'wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee replied simply, "The one you feed."

apart from that, life does go on... i have:
- bought a bunch of $5 roses
- done a few more hours of overtime.
- discovered some flowers on my african violet
- spent a worrying amount of time chatting online and on the phone with mr kim. i say worrying because he seems to have gone back to where we started and i know he is still mr unreliable and i know he will disappear again soon enough. there is just something about him that it is soooo likable.

daft as a brush
spring is being hijacked again - 27°C days and the temperature is not dropping below about 17°C overnight and it is way more humid than it should be at this time of year and it will only get worse.
tonight i have gone mad and...
DONE SOME HOUSEWORK!!
i could not stand the mess any longer. at least the weekend wont be spent either doing the housework or, as i usually do, not doing it and then stressing about it.

if you did try to leave a comment, please consider leaving another. heck, even if you didn't comment previously, why don't you leave one now!

weekend roundup
i meant to post on friday night but fell asleep on the couch about 10pm and woke up, twisted and uncomfortable, at 3.15am.
saturday morning was wasted on aimless websurfing - adsl makes it too easy!
harryo came over on saturday afternoon to rifle through my cd collection - he is intrigued by all the music i list on my wee bloggy as he has never heard of most of it. we then went across to the other side of the pond to vist mr, who had a birthday on thursday. we sampled mr's homebrew (i had a small taste but to me all beer tastes like, well, beer - the homebrew was ok though, a nice fruity belgian style but it still had that basic beer flavour). we drank some champagne to celebrate the birthday and got thai food delivered. a very nice relaxed night.
today i got up early to get the washing done and then went off to the dendy opera quays to see 'me and you and everyone we know' - a great film although at the beginning, the soundtrack went a bit crazy and there was an earsplitting noise instead of dialogue - not sure if it was part of the movie or a problem in the projection room.
i hope you all had a good weekend too!

introvert
today was quite fun! spent the morning offsite doing a team management profile course (i'm an analytical, structure loving, practical introvert which makes me a concluder producer but i already knew that...) and afterwards we had a very nice buffet lunch for our trouble.
tonight miss e visited. we had a few glasses of wine and some yummy thai food and lindt chocolate for dessert. now that we don't work at the same place, we don't spend as much time together. it makes out catchups just a little bit nicer. she is such a treasure.

podcast of thousands
i have a new obsession - podcasts... i had tried to download a few in the dark days of life bb but it took forever so i got bored. now my shiny new adsl modem lets me download them much faster. i have spent most of today listening to stuff from tartanpodcast and not just for the great music; the guy who runs it has the best scottish accent.
my friend ho thinks i should make my own podcast but i think the world will survive without that for a while longer. just don't be surprised if i do slip in a little audio post some day.
1. On the verge:: of a nervous breakdown
2. Tempestuous:: turbulent
3. Coherent:: in...
4. Near death:: last words

9. Torrid:: affair
