haloscan appears to have crapped itself... comments have disappeared... bummer...
enjoyed my sleep in this morning, especially after an early night. i didn't spend the day yawning as i normally do.
not much exciting to report so i'll just tell you some wednesday whatevers...
1. Should the media be responsible for how they affect children? yes
2. What is your strongest power surge? adrenaline
3. What supernatural power would you want the most? invisibility (sometimes i feel i already have it)
raining a lot today - yeah - the temperature has returned to something that resembles humanly bearable!! 21C/70F today... currently 18C/64F - the coolest day since october 14th according to mr weather channel. i'm happy just sitting here with a dumb grin on my face as i enjoy this weather change...
tonight's tnt involved a celebration of the fact that a lot of stuff has shifted and that means more space for happiness. 3.5 years of working through a lot of life's crap is finally starting to have rewards.
late shift tomorrow so a midweek sleep-in is planned. i could stay up late if i had the energy but i don't. therefore i'll say goodnight.
update: no chick chat tonight as the questions are about 'wedded bliss'... never had it, probably never will.

not such a bad day after all 3rd daughter blethered @ 9:57:00 PM
have another new starter sitting with me this week. lovely girl, so we had a good chatter - so unlike me to chatter!!! i'm not having an rdo this month, so my working days are shorter for the next two weeks - yippee!!
tonight i bowled 119,116,130 - go me! shell bowled a 202 - very impressed - go you! our team got all 10 points - go us!
you're mad if you don't play
note from otto: "Last week I let YOU pick a letter to start your answers with.....this week I will pick the letters. For the following statements, fill in the blank with a word (or words) that begins with the letter I give you. Let's have some fun!!"
1. If I could wipe out my credit card debt, I'd be so happy! 2. Maybe one day I will try my hand at cracking the hollywood big time as an actress. 3. Before I started blogging, I used to spend less time on the net and more time in real life. 4. large crowds of people sure make me scared! 5. If I could fly, I would fly to anywhere and everywhere. 6. If more people were not so driven by greed, the world would be a better place. 7. I thought this meme was difficult this week.
wake up sleepyhead... 3rd daughter blethered @ 7:23:00 AM
...back to work! getting up at 6.15am after a week of sleepins is pretty scary.
bloody hot here today. 27C/80F but it felt much worse. the humidity was the worst part of it. 23C/73F forecast for tomorrow - yeah!!
met up with miss e for a coffee and a spot of grocery shopping today - as usual, we just wanted to get a few things and ended up buying much more than planned... i've hardly seen her all week so it was lovely to catch up with her. she always keeps me in good spirits.
today must be the best day i've had in a long time. hardly coughing, generally happy.
went to see doctor to get chest xray results - clear - yeah!! still a bit rattly so will continue puffing away on the ventolin and symbicort but will wind down over the next week.
i went over to north sydney this afternoon to attend a market research interview. i think i might be a market researchers nightmare. i stick to brands i know and could care less about the brands i don't buy... the paid me $55 to answer questions about my hot beverage consumption habits so i lashed out and spent $5 of that on a nice small chunk of king island cape wickham double brie... mmm... cheesalicious...
i am amazed at how long it has been since i've travelled across the good old coat hanger and looked out at the view of the most beautiful harbour in the world. i used to make this trip twice a day when i worked on the other side of the creek. i hated the job, but loved the trip to get there and back. i noticed from the bus on the way back that my favourite sydney 'spot' no longer has a barricade to stop me from visiting. i will have to go for a lunchtime walk and just sit there and watch the ferries go by. another cause to be thankful - people pay a lot of money to come to sydney to see these sights, i see them on a daily basis and it costs me nothing. lucky, lucky girl.
i'm off to cook a thai green curry. more later maybe...
with a bad case of cabin fever and the cough appearing to be under control, i ventured out to beastgardens to finally see lordoftherings:returnoftheking!!! omg!! what a fabulous ending to a fabulous filmic trilogy of the most fabulous of tales... there was a lot more of that gorgeous redhead, david wenham, as faramir - if you need to see more of one of australia's best actors, check out 'the boys' and 'better than sex'. i'm still flabbergasted many hours later and have 3 more free tickets... mmm... what will i do this weekend??? there are three other cinemas where it is still showing...
a day of blessings all round for the third daughter:
online chats with colorado tim and kd in the uk, a phone chat with the divine miss e.
the three books that cg sent only yesterday, arrived today! (i promise not to bitch about australia post for at least one month now!) being the angel that she is, she enclosed 2 movie money vouchers - this girl is the original treasure in my life!
the best news! an astounding and amazing ~*~25 dog day~*~ only 4 were actual street sightings - at the petshop at beastgardens i was transported to susan heaven - they had about 5 labrador pups and at least 5 golden retrievers, 4 gorgeous little jack russells, a fox terrier pup sharing a space with a schnauzer and a few fuzzy ones whose breeds were unknown. i just hope that all of these gorgeous little creatures go to good homes.
well enough blessings for me. i hope that all who read this have a day of blessings too.
still coughing just as hard, but not as much. have doubled the ventolin and symbicort intake and that appears to be helping. despite waking at 6am and not being able to get back to sleep, the day got off to a good start with a smile thanks to a wake up message from mlb in london. then came a good laugh about pantyhose at karen's blog and then another laugh while reading shirl's comment about swimsuit weather in michigan over at the other side.
the lovely cg called today to have a chat - she is a long term treasure and never fails to cheer me up. she has promised to send some books for me to read. also had another chat with tim - i could get used to these daily chats but better not as i'll be back at work soon enough.
i found a dead ladybird on my windowsill today. poor baby. she was very pretty - pale orange with 18 spots. not sure what to do with her, so i've currently got her wrapped in a tissue as i can't bear to chuck her in the bin. i'm hoping that she is living up to her european reputation as a sign of good luck (although sadly not for her)...

it just gets worse... 3rd daughter blethered @ 7:25:00 PM
still coughing... had to have a chest xray today - might have a mild case of pneumonia... lower left lung still rattling... on way home from xray, swatted a bug that got stuck in my hair and managed to smack my glasses from my face and they skidded along the footpath for about 5 feet... blind as the proverbial bat without them but luckily the frames were glinting in the sun so could find them. fuck... scratched up a bit - will check with optometrist if they can be fixed without replacing lenses - the budget wont cover that right now, even with medical benefits coverage... came home and cried... tonight am missing out on the shindig that is the prize for the call centre winning the christmas decoration competition and friday night will also miss farewell drinks for two of the girls who are leaving this week. i am sick to death of being sick!!!
on the plus side, had a lovely chat with colorado tim - that always lifts my spirits and as he said, "things can only get better". i bloody hope so. also chatted with kd in the uk - another lovely friend who helps keep the positive energy flowing. currently chatting to mlb in london - the harley has made him a happy, happy boyo.
whatever, it's wednesday 1. How did you find out about the facts of life? originally via an education night at the local salvation army hall when i was about 10 (1971). lots of graphic (in the sense of pictures) depictions of the equipment necessary and how they join together... they also showed film of all sorts of animals being born - i do remember a giraffe - but not a single human child. later, in my first year of high school, i learnt more credible stuff from 'the little red school book'. it was banned but there were newspaper versions being handed out outside the school one afternoon.
2. What, other than love, makes the world go round? um, the laws of physics...
3. What is your favorite shape? a dodecahedron - i like the word more...
btw, want a logo? - found this at mandarin design - excellent stuff... so easy, even i could do this...
btw II - no eggs on toast last night, they were past their use by date - erk... fresh ones purchased today, so will have them tonight!!

will it ever end... 3rd daughter blethered @ 8:26:00 PM
and the cough goes on... it's mildy better but still there, so another day spent looking about the web, lolling on the couch, reading my book, etc...
tuesday  The Breakfast of Champions!
1. How do you like your eggs?: cooked any way - if boiled (or fried), white must not be hard and rubbery (or brown and crinkled) and either way, the yolk must be warm but still runny, not hard and crumbly. not that i'm fussy about how i like my eggs!!! btw, my mother makes the most perfect fried egg in the known universe... 2. French Toast /or/ Pancakes?: um, i love both... forced to make a choice, french toast with fresh banana and maple syrup... yum... 3. Toast: White /or/ Wheat?: ditto - forced again, white 4. Sausage /or/ Bacon?: oh dear, how can you choose? this is breakfast we are talking about! - both... 5. Breakfast in Bed /or/ Breakfast @ your fav Restaraunt?: definitely out at cafe/restaurant - always better when someone else cooks and no chance of crumbs in your bed...
after all that, i think i'm off to have some soft boiled eggs on white toast for my dinner...
...still coughing. back to doctor who is concerned about the wheezing & rattling in my chest and has now prescribed antibiotics... have been ordered to stay home until at least wednesday... i hope 16 years of smoking isn't catching up with me. i gave the filthy things up in 1992 but have had the odd one here and there since... once a smoker...
anyway, the cough is driving me mad so here is some...
Otto has provided some rules this week... "I've got a new idea this week.......First of all, pick a letter, any letter.................Got one? Ok. For the following questions, all your answers must begin with the letter you just thought of. (Honor system here, my friends!) Have fun with it! Remember; All your answers must begin with the letter you just chose! =)" 1. Name two types of food that you could care less if you ever ate again. capsicum, canned asparagus 2. Name one animal. chimpanzee 3. List three words to describe yourself. caring, chatterbox, coughing 4. Name two things you might find at a zoo. cages, children 5. Name three things you might find living in the water. crabs, coral, cryptosporidium

another lazy day 3rd daughter blethered @ 7:49:00 PM
still coughing, not quite a bark anymore but still very unattractive... the divine miss e stopped by for a quick visit to deliver some lovely aloe vera tissues and a fresh box of strepsils. i'll say it again, that girl is a treasure and i am very lucky to have her as a friend.
another day spent resting - and again my definition of resting is surfing the web till my eyes ache, chatting to interesting people on all parts of of the globe (including several hours again chatting to colorado tim - another treasure) and blog tweaking (in this case trying to set up that webring i mentioned...)...
i did get the washing done but that was just so i have clean underwear... oops, probably tmi
oh bugger, i just checked the tv to see if there are any movies worth watching - bridget jones's diary is on - guess what i'll be doing tonight... that's right, crying over colin & hugh... mmm... colin... mmm... hugh... so glad i've got those extra tissues...
feeling much better today. the voice has returned, a little husky but a voice all the same. still coughing but not as much. resting, lots of fluids, vitamins, "chemist's own" cold & flu tablets, echinacea strepsils and a call from miss e to check up on me - these are the things that are making me better.
the best tonic of all was a many hours long chat with the treasured colorado tim. i also managed a chat with ray in nc while it was still his birthday and caught up with kd in the uk who has been unwell but is now on the mend and back in circulation.
have added a few bits and pieces to the wee bloggy and if i can get my html skills sharpened, i plan to make my own webring... no guarantees it will ever come to anything, but it's worth a try...
what? who says spending the whole day aimlessly surfing, blog tweaking and chatting up men in remote locations is not considered resting? well, i'm feeling very rested and that's how i spent my day...
time to get off the net and back to my so called life... goodnight...
woke up, barking like a dog... my voice is reduced to a squeak and i have a very unattractive cough... i doubt that i'll be seeing lotr:rotk this weekend... i doubt that i will do much at all... except cough... erk...
happy black friday birthday wishes to ray in nc and again to mlb in london - i hope the harley is all you hoped it would be...
have spent a lot of the day on the couch sleeping and will return there shortly.
the sore throat has degenerated to a loss of voice - what a bonus for a call centre operator. i can always go to work tomorrow and stay off the phones, just spend the day shuffling paper... that would break my heart... will see how i feel tomorrow when i wake up...
despite another hot, sticky, rainy day, it was a 10 dogger and a very amusing but d&m conversation with colorado tim has left a good impression. praise to the internet - it takes away the need to use my voice to have conversations.
also talking to mlb in london - his birthday is tomorrow and he's getting himself a harley!! happy birthday to you! dreams do come true!
better late than nevers, here's some Wednesday Whatevers 1. What is your greatest weakness? Explain. um, men, chocolate, a nice smile - no explanation necessary...
2. What do you avoid at all costs? conflict
3. If you could stop time, what would you do? can i stop it then restart it? um, too hard...
i'm off for an early night...
p.s. i don't know if i've mentioned this here before but just after christmas i won a free ticket to see lotr:rotk via a promo thingy on a schweppes traditional lemonade bottle... now i've been hanging out to see this film since the end of lotr:t2t and even cried when watching a trailer back in october because i did not want to wait another 2 months to see it. anyway, the precioussss ticket was supposed to be with me within 2 weeks... 2 weeks later all i got was an sms on my mobile telling me to go to some website to confirm my address... done... 2 weeks later i went to the cadbury schweppes website and sent a nice email just asking when i might expect the ticket as i would be very disappointed to miss it at the cinema as i had been putting off seeing it in the expectation of receiving my prize etc. etc. ... standard bland response - notified mailing house etc... blahblahblah... 2 more weeks... nowt!!! another email sent - not so nice this time - forget the ticket, just send a list of your products so i know what not to buy in future (there goes my gin & tonic consumption - who else makes tonic water??), very disappointed, lifelong consumer, blahblahblah... that was last friday... monday, a little card from the post office - registered mail item to be picked up... oooh!!! went to collect it yesterday - 4 TICKETS... now i just need to find somebody who hasn't already seen it... or just watch it 4 times... my faith in cadbury schweppes is restored and i can keep drinking the g&ts... yeah!! (and eating chocolate... mmm... cadbury dairy milk...)
massive thunderstorm happening here right now. non stop lightning making sky look like day time... cool, but glad i'm inside...
another quiet day. have a sore throat that i'm hoping will go away... but ears have started to hurt. can do without this... i'm going to take some codral cold tablets and have an early night.
another quiet but quick day. no major highs, no minor lows... tnt with jt was much calmer tonight - moving into a new phase with more emphasis on 'here & now' and moving on to a better future...
no need to pretend, it really is... tuesday  Think Fast!
1. Cookies: Choc ChipOatmeal Raisin 2. Chest Hair: Yum!Barf-a-roo 3. If you were a bumper sticker you would say: when in doubt, poke it with a stickGrow Your Own Dope, Plant a Man!Princess Alert!I Love to Embarass My Offspring! 4. back to bowling... 3rd daughter blethered @ 10:26:00 PM
first night back at bowling - 106,112,124 - not bad, considering i have not bowled for 2 months... miss shell from work has joined our league so i have changed teams to bowl with her - she is very good!
work was ok today. have a temp sitting with me. at least he has an interest in the job and managed to look like he was happy being there... the day went very fast.
summer has finally hit with vengeance - 37C deg today (98.6F for the meteorologically challenged) - and will be +30C (86F) for the rest of the week... yuk...
managed to have a non weekend conversation with colorado tim this afternoon- it's not often that we are online at the same time during the week so it was very nice to have a chat with him. he always manages to make me laugh.
i'm madder than a cut snake so here's some... 1. On Sunday afternoon, I like to just hang out on the net... 2. I'm behind someone at a traffic light, the light turns green and they just sit there, I don't care, i don't drive... 3. My immediate reaction to someone making a nasty remark to me is to cringe then i think 'die, bitch'... 4. If I had to live in a state/country where it was cold most of the year, I would be a very happy girl... 5. When the weather outside is hot and humid, I prefer to go somewhere where the aircon is working... 6. My favorite 'comfy' clothes to wear around the house is my daggy cotton pants/shorts and an equally daggy cotton tshirt... 7. If given a deadline at work/school to finish a project, I usually finish it... 8. If someone gave me a pet for my birthday, I would worry that i would not be able to look after it properly... 9. As far as watching the clock on weekends, I don't... 10. I don'tusually wash my car about everybecause i don't have one to wash...
i'm so bored. bored with my life, bored with blogging, bored with everything... i'd rather be grumpy, being bored is just so boring... it's only that i got an email reminding me it was sunday that i'm here and then it's only so that when i forget what i've been doing, i can come here to find out how i've wasted my days.
yesterday i went to see 'big fish' again and went down to coogee for coffee with miss e and her sister kt. i managed to have a little nap towards the end of the movie... that's what happens when you only have 3 hrs sleep. had dinner with h at the local vietnamese noodle place - very yummy.
today i've started putting my kitchen back together. washing the plates and things before they go back into the cupboards. cleaned my water filter and using it again! so glad there are no filthy little cockroaches around to climb in and contaminate it - yeah!!

grump be gone... 3rd daughter blethered @ 11:49:00 PM
the grump up and left just after 4pm this afternoon. it will be back but for now am glad it's gone. went out for birthday drinks with miss e. despite her best efforts at keeping quiet about her birthday, it was celebrated in fine style. the young man sitting next to miss e in the bus on the way home was chatting up her little sister kt and upon discovering there was a birthday happening, he got the whole (very crowded) bus to perform a rousing 'happy birthday to you'. it was priceless.
that's enough. v.tired. need to go to sleep...
happy birthday... 3rd daughter blethered @ 7:43:00 AM
a bad cbbb day yesterday. started to write a post and explorer got lost and shut itself down and i just didn't have the energy to start again.
today could easily have turned out the same. at last it is payday and i had visions of all those lovely $$$$ from the recent attack of overtime... only to have my visions swept away by the fact that all of those hard worked hours had not been reported to the payroll system. the flimsiest of excuses - she forgot and the bitch had the hide to go off on leave for 3 days because she knew she'd have 25 people on her back about the lack of $$$$ in the coffers. just another reason to look for a new job (there is a local one advertised this week so have updated the old cv in preparation for the application...)
tonight i went to bingo with mrs jane, as usual we couldn't win a pox in a whorehouse raffle. mustn't grumble, it's always fun to spend time with mrs jane.
i missed the boat for chick chat so let's pretend it's tuesday, again...  The Lil People 1. What's your nickname for your children?: um, don't have any... next question... 2. Did your mom have a special nickname for you growing up?: yes... little pattie, because i wanted to be this woman. my parents still call me this... 3. What's the best thing a child ever said to you?: "auntie susie, do sheeps have boogers?" - my nephew michael at age 2 or 3, he is now 19. 4. How many meatloaf's would you have if money was no object?: um, i don't know if i understand this question... if we're talking meatloaf records, none... if we're talking dinner, again, none... 5. What's the silliest thing one of your weasal's has done?: um, this one is even more out there. can i have some of whatever it is that you are on?
and now we return to our regular wednesday broadcast. here is tonight's episode of... Wednesday Whatevers 1. If you were to commit suicide, how would you do it? um, don't know if i like this question. the times i've considered it, it usually involved the idea of walking out into the ocean and not coming back... 2. What is your best stress reliever? susan's surefire triple 's' system - sleep, singing, sex - i only get to use two of those... 3. How do you feel about jokes bashing the opposite sex? love them if they are genuinely funny. we girls give as good as we get...
went to see doctor today to get something for the wheezing brought on by the bugspray... the inhaler thingy has helped but still rattling a bit... 29 years with bronchitis (16 of those as a cigarette smoker) and at 42 i finally have my first attack of asthma...
managed to catch up with colorado tim and watched the end of the superbowl while chatting to him. was 'rooting' for carolina but as usual, i can't pick a winner...
anyway, if this is monday, this must be 1. I probably spend about half of my life on the computer every day. 2. It always takes me between 30 & 75 minutes to get ready in the morning. 3. I would rather go to the dentist than go to the cinema to watch a sci-fi film... 4. My favorite dessert is um, dessert... 5. When I go to the store for one item, I always walk out with about ten (or more).... 6. If the statement, 'You are what you eat' was true, I would be a smorgasbord... 7. I set my thermostat to 'open the windows and turn on the fan' in the summer and 'close the windows and put the heater on' in the winter. 8. My favorite outdoor activity is walking. 9. My favorite indoor activity is surfing the net. 10. When I'm feeling down, I usually cry, talk to good friends, listen to music.
went with miss e to see 'mystic river' this morning - advertised in friday/saturday papers to screen at 10.30am at fox studios... we front up at the box office - 'sorry, it's not showing. it was not advertised in the papers as showing today. there is a charity preview screening of 'big fish' instead'... another couple of girls turned up for the same screening. a complaint to the manager resulted in free tickets all round - bonus!!! ended up seeing 'underworld' instead. very stylish vampire flick - not totally fabulous but some cute boys and girls to look at and a fun way to waste a sunday morning.
had a fabulous chat with colorado tim this afternoon. this time it was my turn to make him laugh. also nattered with miss em. she sent a new photo of her little lad, taken yesterday at 'koala park'. they may have to go home to the old dart if they cannot get visa stuff sorted - hopefully they will be able to return as permanent residents some time in the near future...

cockroach free for one whole day but... 3rd daughter blethered @ 11:49:00 PM
...i'm sure that whatever was used for the cockroach slaughter is poison. my handwashing compulsion has had a workout today. the disgusting smell is bad enough, but i'm worried that everything i touch will contaminate me, so have washed my hands at least 30 times today... it has also left me wheezy and coughing... if it is no better tomorrow, i will stay at miss e's place and wait for the fumes to subside.
speaking of my treasured friend, she took me under her wing tonight, invited me over for dinner and fed me bagel crisps with olive dip for starters then risotto and salad. i supplied some yummy 'connoissieur cookie cream commotion' ice cream for dessert and we watched the 'brassed off' dvd - it made us both cry, but at least it wasn't soppy and smoochy.
i forgot to mention last night that the wonderful adam gave me a copy of my favourite tears for fears cd - the seeds of love - my original was loaned to a friend and never seen again. now i have another one and can play it forever. thanks adam - your taste in music is impeccable, except for bloody delta... 8)

a pleasant day despite the massacre... 3rd daughter blethered @ 11:31:00 PM
up early to finish preparing for the cockroach massacre. after letting the bugman into the flat, i went into the city to have a look about and see if i could spend my $25 grace bros voucher - i'm finally over my impulse buying days - despite looking at dvds, cds, books, shoes and clothing, the voucher remains unspent! there was nothing that i really, really wanted...
i then went to visit baby g and her mother. a very peaceful afternoon drinking tea, gossiping and watching this adorable child be adorable.
came home to the disgusting stench of whatever was used to rid my flat of the unwanted guests and an awful lot of dead bugs lying about. had quick shower, got gorgeous and then went to meet mrs jane and went to harold park for the 10/30 night. met up with adam and jim (mr jane) and proceeded to spend $107 of the free $120 given to us for our entry fee of $10 each. didn't gamble too much - after losing on the first 3 races, decided it was a waste to spend any more.
despite the cockies, i'm very blessed to have such fabulous friends who make me laugh and make it all worthwhile.
i'm off for my beauty sleep now. a big day ahead, washing all the stuff from the kitchen cupboards and putting it all back where it belongs...
thank goodness it's thursday... a vile day at work. the serious job hunting has started. i have no desire to stay around for much longer. i hate job hunting and all that goes with it, particularly interviews, but it has to be done... seek.com.au here i come...
the theme for today is crash - i spotted 3 car accidents on the way home - 2 in my street. two of them with minor road rage - the parties involved yelling and shaking fists at each other. the 3rd involved a disagreement with a car and a bus... the bus won... it makes me glad i don't drive or own a car...
despite all this, a 13 dog day brought a smile to my face...
tomorrow is the great cockroach slaughter of 2004. tonight and tomorrow morning i'm going to warn all the little roachies to get out while the getting is good. if they don't take my advice, well that's their problem.

17 dog day... 3rd daughter blethered @ 10:59:00 PM
yeah!! thanks to the universe for providing a 10 dog trip to work and another 7 on the way home. on that note, i have to link to this!
mildly happier today. an early night probably helped. that elusive 7 hours of sleep was easy to find last night.
miss e came over tonight so that we could celebrate wednesday with the leftover cider and champagne from new years eve. we took the health kick one step further and had kfc for dinner... i know i sound like a broken record, but that girl is a total treasure and everyone should have a friend like her.
p.s. if you the person from the net.au domain who has spent at least 3 hours in the last few days perusing my wee bloggy, please take a moment to leave a comment. i don't bite...
1. Have you ever wondered if it's all really worth it? yes, on a daily basis and on a bad day, hourly... today, mmm... definitely 2. Do "inspiring" quotes really inspire you, or just annoy you? some of the cheesier ones make me want to chuck up, but there are a few that can inspire. (couldn't name one right now...) 3. Why do you go to school? um, i don't... i left school on september 12, 1977. bloody heck, i'm old... most people weren't even born then...
with apologies to tuesday, here's the latest in  Jammin' ! 1. All time favorite song?: too hard!! it changes on a daily basis... all time top 5? west end girls/pet shop boys, baker street/gerry rafferty, i'm not in love/10cc, head over heels/tears for fears, eloise/barry ryan (hands up any one who remembers that one, even the cover version by the damned...) even that top 5 could change tomorrow if i remember another song... (30 seconds later, a whole bunch of other songs have come to mind... too tired to list them but think aussie 70's stuff...) 2. What was your wedding song?: um, never married... probably wont... if i do, it will probably be something totally inappropriate... 3. What's your favorite band?: would have to say new order, but there are sooooo many others... 4. Name a song that rocks your world when your angry?: me, angry? ha ha ha... anything loud and raucous that i can howl along to... 5. Rocker you admire the most? probably david bowie, so much talent, so gorgeous and still going strong.
tnt with jt has left me tired, teary and too tired to do a serious blog.
i'm sure tomorrow will be a better day.
goodnight.

my, what big posts you have... 3rd daughter blethered @ 7:32:00 PM
a day of big posts... here is another...
a totally wasted monday. i have spent waaaaay too long on the net, aimlessly surfing around the world wide whatever. what else am i supposed to do on a day off work??
i did get offline for 2 hours to write the answers to this interview thingy. i found it over at charlies and there are heaps of links to other interviewers and interviewees. the questions change according to where you choose to ask for them... (i'm kinda wishing i'd asked elsewhere, that charlie has one active mind 8)
here we go:
1) You've just met a new person, and want to let him or her know what you're like. However, the only way to communicate with the person is to let him or her 'replay' all of your activities for an entire day. Which day from your life so far do you choose to tell this person the most about your personality? (Or at least, the most about what you want him or her to know!)
mmm… starting to regret this interview thingy… to recall just one day from the 15555 days and (as i post this) 10 hours & 17 minutes that i have so far spent on this planet…
meanwhile, i have just had a vision of my 29th birthday… it involved sex, drugs and rock’n’roll, exotic cuisine and heroic sporting feats on an international level… well, i was actually in london, playing pool in a pub in islington and for once, i played well and won a few games. there was a lot of alcohol consumed, several hours of snogging with a gorgeous canadian man, watching a videotape of rage sent from home and a good aussie bbq (everything was burnt…). as far as i recall, it is the best birthday that i’ve had, ever, and i’ve had 42 of the little buggers…
that was easy!
2) In your house, you hang a new frame on the wall. The frame is six feet by six feet, and can act as a portal to watch what's happening at any one place in the world, life-size and in real time. What place do you choose to monitor, and why? (For bonus points, would your choice be different if you could also choose any time in history to 'start the clock'?)
i will answer the easy part first (lust for bonus points…) i would definitely choose the time in history to start the clock and it would be that initial moment at the beginning of our beautiful planet – the big bang. i’m hoping there is a kickass video recorder or tivo thingy with a bloody big hard drive (not yet available here in oz so not sure of the technical terms) attached to capture these historic events for future reference. (my apologies to all those scientists who’d be out of a job if this were to really happen…)
now, the location… i’d love to bend the rules and change this screen to some high tech 4x4 ‘picture in picture’ jobby with a remote control that needs it’s own manual just to operate it and be allowed to choose up to 16 places but bending the rules is probably not allowed… blethering here, stalling for time trying to think of ‘the place’… mmm… my questions, my answers, so it will have to be my home town, sydney – the most beautiful city in the world…
having said all that, i’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum so i’m going to change the rules. that screen now has a 4x4 ‘picture in picture’ capability and matching remote control. the top left screen will always display the expanding history of my beloved sydney, the other 15 will be for the pleasure of all those out of work scientists but they are not allowed to fight over the remote.
3) An alien spaceship lands beside your house. The occupants of the ship arrive at your door, and wait silently for you to bring them one object to indicate your intentions. Do you play their little game, and bring them something from your house? If so, what is it, and what are you trying to tell them? And if not, what do you do instead?
aarrrgghhh… killer questions, charlie! where do you get them from?
now, do i assume that i’m living where i am now, because if so, the little green men would get to the security door downstairs first and may not press the right intercom button for my flat… even if they do, i might not answer it. for a variety of reasons, i don’t always answer the intercom – particularly if i’m not expecting visitors or if my self or my surroundings are not in any fit state to accept visitors… ah, the joy of screening… calls, visitors, stupid interview questions…
i guess that in the spirit of the game, i will have to assume that there are no barriers to the aliens getting my attention.
i would bring them:
a) a musical instrument, because music is the universal language
b) a street directory, so they could find their way around sydney
c) a camera and snap off as many shots of them as I could – no one would believe it had happened otherwise.
4) You're given a device that will allow you to 'rewind time' for thirty seconds. If you use it, you'll be able to return to thirty seconds in the past; no one but you will have a memory of the first events that happened, but you can change anything you want about how you originally behaved or spoke during the thirty seconds. So, how would you use your new toy, and why?
i’m nothing if not honest… this one is easy. without giving too much away (and there will not be a q&a session with the author after this), i’d go back to a 30 second space somewhere in the hour before i lost my virginity and make a different decision… let’s just leave it at that.
5) Let's say, for the sake of this question, that ouija boards actually work. And that many years from now, after you die, someone contacts you using one. Given that people using these things have an attention span of... oh, let's say twelve letters, what do you choose to say to them? How does your answer depend on who's contacting you, and who do you _hope_ tries to look you up in the afterworld?
having whiled away many a wasted hour on ouija boards as a child and being scared completely out of my wits, it would have to be something scary but relevant to the people contacting me. trying to fit it into 12 letters is the hard part… it’s also very hard to answer this because i’m still alive and have several more years ahead of me (i hope…) so i could be excluding a lot of people that i haven’t met yet who might one day change my life in a way that would change my response to this question… (she’s blethering again, trying to think of a better answer…)
i would hope that the people contacting me have a healthy disrespect and disbelief in the spirit world and think they are playing around with a toy. when they ask who is it that they are talking to, i’d spell out ‘jim morrison’ and use my spirit power to make the all the doors in the house spring open and then slam them shut (or just slam them shut if they are already open…) i wonder if they would they even get the reference?
glad that's over...
if you want to join in the fun, follow these five simple rules:
THE RULES! 1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
it's time for... 3rd daughter blethered @ 1:41:00 PM
1. The one kitchen appliance I just could not live without is my kettle - can't live without a cup of tea. 2. My desk always looks like a cockroach convention centre, but not for much longer :). 3. The clocks in my house are always any number of minutes fast (and/or slow). 4. The one television program I just can't stand is most crap american sitcoms... (i know that makes it more than one [about 5 million actually] but if they'd stopped after the first crap one, my answer would have been easier to explain). 5. The one television program I try to never miss is nothing in particular - i don't watch a lot of tv, it's mostly on for background noise. 6. When it comes to housework, I really hate cleaning... there is no other word to add here.... 7. If I could re-design my living room, the first thing I would do is make it bigger. 8. I wish I had a bigger living room in my house flat. 9. When someone points a camera at me and says 'Smile!' I usually scowl and say 'get that f*cking thing out of my face...'. 10. I expect I'll have my income tax done by the end of july.
Australia Day 3rd daughter blethered @ 10:06:00 AM
my most received email this week (with thanks and giggles to whoever first wrote it...):
We are the people of a free nation of blokes, sheilas and the occasional wanker (usually named Jim). We come from many lands (although a few too many of us come from New Zealand), and although we live in the best country in the world, we reserve the right to bitch and moan about it whenever we bloody like. We are One Nation but divided into many States.
First, there's Victoria, named after a queen who didn't believe in lesbians. Victoria is the realm of Mossimo turtlenecks, cafe latte, grand final day, and big horse races. Its capital is Melbourne, whose chief marketing pitch is that "it's liveable". At least that's what they think. The rest of us think it is too bloody cold and wet.
Next, there's NSW, the realm of pastel work shorts, macchiato with sugar, thin books read quickly and millions of dancing queens. Its capital, Sydney, has more queens than any other city in the world and is proud of it. Its mascots are Bondi lifesavers that pull their Speedos up their cracks to keep the left and right sides of their brains separate.
Down south we have Tasmania, a State based on the notion that the family that bonks together stays together. In Tassie, everyone gets an extra chromosome at conception. Maps of the State bring smiles to the sternest faces. It holds the world record for a single mass shooting, which the Yanks can't seem to beat no matter how often they try.
South Australia is the province of half-decent reds, a festival of foreigners and bizarre axe murders. SA is the state of innovation. Where else can you so effectively reuse country bank vaults and barrels as in Snowtown, just out of Adelaide (also named after a queen). They had the Grand Prix, but lost it when the views of Adelaide sent the Formula One drivers to sleep at the wheel.
Western Australia is too far from anywhere to be relevant. It's main claim to fame is that it doesn't have daylight saving because if it did, all the men would get erections on the bus on the way to work. WA was the last state to stop importing convicts and many of them still work there in the government and business.
The Northern Territory is the red heart of our land Outback plains, sheep stations the size of Europe, kangaroos, Jackaroos, emus, Uluru, and dusty kids with big smiles. It also has the highest beer consumption of anywhere on the planet and its creek beds have the highest aluminium content of anywhere too. Although the Territory is the centrepiece of our national culture, few of us live there and the rest prefer to flyover it on our way to Bali.
And there's Queensland. While any mention of God seems silly in a document defining a nation of half arsed sceptics, it is worth noting that God probably made Queensland, as its beautiful one day and perfect the next. Why he filled it with dickheads still remains a mystery to this day.
Oh yes and there's Canberra. The less said the better.
We, the citizens of Oz, are united by Highways, whose treacherous twists and turns kill more of us each year than murderers We are united in our lust for international recognition, so desperate for praise we leap in joy when a rag tag gaggle of corrupt IOC officials tells us Sydney is better than Beijing. We are united by a democracy so flawed that a political party albeit a redneck gun toting one, can get a million votes and still not win one seat in Federal Parliament. Not that we're whingeing, we leave that to our Pommy immigrants. We want to make "no worries mate" our national phrase, "she'll be right mate" our national attitude and "Waltzing Matilda" our national anthem (so what if it's about a sheep-stealing crim who commits suicide). We love sport so much our newsreaders can read the death toll from a sailing race and still tell us who's winning. And we're the best in the world at all the sports that count, like cricket, netball, rugby league and union, AFL, roo shooting, two up and horse racing. We also have the biggest rock, the tastiest pies, and the worst dressed Olympians in the known universe. Only in Australia can a pizza delivery get to your house faster than an ambulance. Only in Australia do we have bank doors wide open, no security guards, or cameras but chain the pens to the desk.
Stand proud Aussies - we shoot, we root, we vote. We are girt by sea and pissed by lunchtime. Even though we might seem a racist, closed minded, sports obsessed little people, at least we feel better for it.
